Image Sequence Frame Gap Tool

Inspect supplied image-sequence indices and missing-frame counts without image interpretation.

Description

Divide index gap and missing count by frameRate.

Research timing records need a common clock origin, time unit and observation boundary. A corrected interval or censored duration describes the supplied recording model; it does not by itself measure physiological transit or establish a diagnosis.

Divide index gap and missing count by frameRate.

When to use this tool

Use Image Sequence Frame Gap when you need a research timing, frame or clock-reference calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstIndex, secondIndex, frameRate, missingFrameCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read indexGap, elapsedSeconds, missingSeconds. Use the output convention below.

Require positive frameRate, ordered frame indexes, and missingFrameCount no greater than the number of intervening positions. Divide index gap and missing count by frameRate.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
firstIndexFirst IndexRequired. Safe integer.
secondIndexSecond IndexRequired. Safe integer.
frameRatePositive frames per second; assumes constant frame spacing.Required. Finite number; strictly above 0.
missingFrameCountNumber of missing interior frames, at most index gap minus one.Required. Safe integer; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
indexGapIndex GapRequired. Safe integer.
elapsedSecondsElapsed SecondsRequired. Finite number.
missingSecondsMissing SecondsRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Frame rate is frames/second; index gap is not an inclusive frame count. Missing frames and actual timestamps are not independently inspected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use original timestamps and the study protocol to resolve timing conventions. Physiological interpretation requires the appropriate clinical or research assessment, including observation and calibration uncertainty.
