Gastroenterology Diary Meal Event Offset Tool

Calculate supplied gastrointestinal diary event-minus-meal timestamp difference in matching units without inferring causation.

Description

Measure a diary event's signed time offset from a recorded meal.

Gastrointestinal study and procedure records use explicit specimen, assay, instrument, site and time conventions. A wet/dry mass label differs from converting a sample basis, while a recorded interval differs from a physiological transit estimate. Metadata alone does not establish anatomy, assay validity or a clinical finding.

Measure a diary event's signed time offset from a recorded meal.

When to use this tool

Use Gastroenterology Diary Meal Event Offset when checking the stated gastrointestinal record, measurement label or timing convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter mealTime, eventTime. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return eventTime-mealTime as a signed gap in a common caller-defined time unit.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
mealTimeMeal TimeRequired. Finite number.
eventTimeEvent TimeRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
signedGapSigned first/second difference in the direction and units specified above.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • A temporal offset does not establish a meal-related symptom, causation, physiological transit or a clinical finding.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use original validated clinical/laboratory records and qualified medical interpretation for actual diagnostic, procedural or care decisions.
