Coin Flip Best-of-N Decider
FulloddNindependentfaircoin-majoritydecider,not earlystopfirst-to-majority or physicalfairness. Bounded offline explicitly declared convention;not personalidentity/traitinference,prediction,secure randomness or guaranteedgameresult.
Description
A best-of-an-odd-number coin decision uses a majority to avoid a tie.
A best-of-an-odd-number coin decision uses a majority to avoid a tie.1
This tool performs the complete chosen number of fair modeled tosses, including tosses after a majority might already be inevitable.
When to use Coin Flip Best-of-N Decider
Use this tool to apply the stated coin flip best-of-n decider operation with an explicit input and unit basis.
How to use Coin Flip Best-of-N Decider and how it works
- Establish the text or game convention described above.
- Enter seed, actualOddBestOfCount and run the tool.
- Read result.heads, result.tails, result.majority using the output meanings below.
- If input is rejected, correct the stated type, range, ordering or alignment issue and rerun; review successful results under the declared convention.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| seed | Nonblank reproducibility seed; at most 256 UTF-16 code units. | string | required; further conditions in the algorithm |
| actualOddBestOfCount | Odd Best Of Count. Units, ordering and applicable branch are specified in the algorithm. | number | required; finite; integer from 1 to 63; further conditions in the algorithm |
Require an odd integer count 1–63. Draw a 0-or-1 value for every toss, count zero as heads and one as tails, and return both counts and the majority label. A nonblank seed of at most 256 characters selects the existing seeded generator unless execution context supplies random. One source advances through the request; supplied samples must be finite in [0,1). These draws are not cryptographically secure.
The default source hashes the seed’s UTF-16 units into an integer state and advances a deterministic arithmetic generator for each sample. A supplied execution-context random source takes precedence and must return finite values in [0,1). The required seed still must be nonblank and at most 256 UTF-16 code units. These draws provide reproducible sampling without cryptographic unpredictability.2
heads + tails = N; majority = heads if heads > tails, else tails Apply the declared units, ordering and branch conditions.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the declared output fields. | object |
| result.heads | Number of modeled heads in the complete toss batch. | number |
| result.tails | Number of modeled tails in the complete toss batch. | number |
| result.majority | heads or tails, whichever count is greater. | string |

The output applies the declared operation to the values you supply. Establish the measurement basis, units, coefficients and any caller-selected rules before interpreting it. The tool does not independently collect or verify observations or decide whether a model or reference applies.
Supply explicit required fields with the documented types and dense aligned arrays. Unknown fields, wrong types and nonfinite numbers are rejected. Branch-specific constraints are explained above. A returned boolean, signed difference or tied result follows the stated convention; an input error instead means the required input contract was not satisfied. Very large inputs or outputs may be rejected by shared resource limits.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related operation, use Gambler's Ruin Probability Calculator. Gambler’s ruin is the chance that a fixed-step bankroll reaches zero before a chosen target.
For a related operation, use Flip a Coin Streak Probability Calculator. The probability of one specified all-heads block differs from the chance of finding a run somewhere in many tosses.
