Description
Subtract each baseline and divide corrected target by corrected reference.
An assay correction separates measured signal, background and calibration. A normalized peak or extrapolated sample amount depends on the supplied analytical and sampling assumptions, not just the arithmetic.
Subtract each baseline and divide corrected target by corrected reference.
When to use this tool
Use Forensic Spectrum One Peak Ratio when you need one assay correction, signal ratio or subsample extrapolation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter targetPeak, referencePeak, targetBaseline, referenceBaseline. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedTarget, correctedReference, ratio. Use the output convention below.
Require referencePeak different from referenceBaseline. Subtract each baseline and divide corrected target by corrected reference.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- The denominator may be negative. Signals share compatible scales; no peak identification, calibration, likelihood ratio, or source-match conclusion is supplied.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the full validated laboratory method with traceable calibration, sampling and uncertainty records. A complete forensic conclusion requires appropriate source evaluation beyond one corrected quantity.
