Evidence Subsample Retained Mass Tool

Calculate evidence subsample retained mass from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return received-consumed-transferred+recovered and consumed-recovered.

Evidence records link identifiers, packaging, quantities and source assertions. Literal equality and balanced counts can reveal local inconsistencies, but they cannot authenticate physical evidence, establish custody completeness or determine legal admissibility.

Return received-consumed-transferred+recovered and consumed-recovered.

When to use this tool

Use Evidence Subsample Retained Mass when you need a scoped evidence-record or quantity-reconciliation diagnostic.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter receivedMass, consumedMass, transferredMass, recoveredMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read retainedMass, netConsumed. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative mass quantities and recoveredMass no greater than consumedMass. Return received-consumed-transferred+recovered and consumed-recovered.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Retained mass can be negative because total outflow is not capped. This diagnoses a supplied balance, not actual evidence integrity or authorized consumption.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review authenticated source records and the complete custody process through the appropriate professional procedure. Treat local flags as prompts for investigation rather than independent evidentiary conclusions.
