Description
Return water and remaining solid mass and retain the unit label.
Food quantities depend on whether their basis is gross, edible, drained, wet, dry or solid mass. Changing the denominator can change a reported concentration or yield without changing the actual sample or proving anything about its safety.
Return water and remaining solid mass and retain the unit label.
When to use this tool
Use Ingredient Solid Water Fraction when you need a stated food-mass, composition-basis or yield calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter ingredientMass, measuredWaterFraction, massUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read waterMass, solidMass, unit. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative ingredient mass, nonempty unit and water fraction in [0, 1]. Return water and remaining solid mass and retain the unit label.1

| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| waterMass | Water Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| solidMass | Solid Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| unit | Unit | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Water fraction is wet-mass basis, not percent. The unit label is not validated and the calculation does not identify ingredients or nutritional composition.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile measured quantities and preparation records on a common basis. Use the appropriate laboratory, nutritional or safety assessment when arithmetic alone cannot establish the intended property.
