Description
Compute both dry masses and initial minus final dry-mass loss.
Stock planning relates quantities to use rates, reservations, losses and package sizes. The resulting coverage is a model of supplied inventory, not assurance of edibility, safe storage, adequate nutrition or actual recipient eligibility.
Compute both dry masses and initial minus final dry-mass loss.
When to use this tool
Use Storage Loss Moisture Term when you need an explicit food-inventory or distribution-budget calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialWetMass, finalWetMass, initialDryFraction, finalDryFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read initialDryMass, finalDryMass, dryMassLoss. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative initial/final wet masses and dry fractions in [0, 1]. Compute both dry masses and initial minus final dry-mass loss.1

| initialDryFraction | Initial Dry Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| finalDryFraction | Final Dry Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| initialDryMass | Initial Dry Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| finalDryMass | Final Dry Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| dryMassLoss | Dry Mass Loss | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Dry fractions are dry/wet mass, not moisture fractions or percentages. Negative loss is retained; storage safety and loss mechanisms are not assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile physical stock and the applicable handling and distribution procedures. Assess food condition and appropriate nutritional requirements independently of inventory arithmetic.
