Food Color Reference Offset

Subtract an explicit reference from supplied CIELAB coordinates without computing perceptual color difference or measuring color.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate signed reference offsets in each of three supplied food-color coordinates.

Food-technology measurements distinguish ingredient/batch mass, wet- and dry-basis moisture, solids fractions, throughput and optical or mechanical coordinates. A mass scaling or local signal contribution does not validate a process, sensory outcome or safe product. Physical units and analytical bases must be explicit.

Calculate signed reference offsets in each of three supplied food-color coordinates.

When to use this tool

Use Food Color Reference Offset when checking the stated benign food-material, throughput, color or mechanical term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordedL, recordedA, recordedB, referenceL, referenceA, referenceB. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read deltaL, deltaA, deltaB. Use the output convention below.

Return recorded-minus-reference differences for L, a and b coordinates separately.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Coordinate system and measurement conditions must match; this does not calculate a complete color-difference metric or assess sensory or safety significance.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified measurements and complete appropriate food/process methods with qualified food-safety and technical assessment for actual production or consumption decisions.
