Brix Supplied Solids Mass Factor Tool

Mass calculation when the caller explicitly equates the supplied Brix reading with mass-percent solids.

Description

Split mass by percent/100 and its complement.

Food quantities depend on whether their basis is gross, edible, drained, wet, dry or solid mass. Changing the denominator can change a reported concentration or yield without changing the actual sample or proving anything about its safety.

Split mass by percent/100 and its complement.

When to use this tool

Use Brix Supplied Solids Mass Factor when you need a stated food-mass, composition-basis or yield calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter solutionMass, suppliedSolidsPercent. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read solidsMass, remainingMass. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative solution mass and suppliedSolidsPercent from zero through 100. Split mass by percent/100 and its complement.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The percentage is supplied as an assumed mass-solids basis; refractometer readings are not automatically verified true solids or sugar content.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile measured quantities and preparation records on a common basis. Use the appropriate laboratory, nutritional or safety assessment when arithmetic alone cannot establish the intended property.
