Emergency Food Explicit Ration Share

Count whole portions under an explicitly supplied ration mass without recommending ration or nutritional needs.

Description

Calculate whole rations and remaining mass using a caller-supplied ration size.

Food-assistance records track sources, quantities, vouchers, transfers and purchasing units. Nominal person-rations and whole-pack costs depend on supplied assumptions; they do not determine nutritional adequacy or legal entitlements. Returned quantities also do not establish that food can safely be redistributed.

Calculate whole rations and remaining mass using a caller-supplied ration size.

When to use this tool

Use Emergency Food Explicit Ration Share when checking the stated supplied assistance inventory, quantity or cost convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter availableMass, suppliedRationPerPerson. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read wholePersonRations, remainingMass. Use the output convention below.

Require availableMass>=0 and suppliedRationPerPerson>0. Count floor(available/ration) whole person-rations and subtract their allocated mass for the remainder.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
availableMassAvailable MassRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedRationPerPersonPositive caller-defined mass allocation on the same basis as availableMass; no dietary recommendation.Required. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
wholePersonRationsWhole Person RationsRequired. Safe integer.
remainingMassRemaining MassRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The ration is supplied, not selected or recommended; no nutrition, duration, individual dietary need or emergency-response adequacy is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified inventory and program records with qualified nutrition, food-safety and humanitarian professionals for actual dietary, distribution or benefit decisions.
