Trouser Hem Cuff Turnup Budget Tool

Budget two cuff depths plus a separate hem allowance.

Description

Return finished+2×cuffDepth+hemAllowance and the allowance total.

A pattern's seam and closure dimensions combine finished lengths with allowances, overlaps and offsets. A local length budget describes an ideal construction; fabric thickness, movement and fitting can change the practical result.

Return finished+2×cuffDepth+hemAllowance and the allowance total.

When to use this tool

Use Trouser Hem Cuff Turnup Budget when you need a local pattern, seam or closure dimension check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter finishedLength, cuffDepth, hemAllowance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read cutLength, allowance. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative finished length, cuff depth and hem allowance. Return finished+2×cuffDepth+hemAllowance and the allowance total.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The model uses two cuff depths by definition. All lengths share units; fabric thickness, turn-of-cloth, fitting and a complete pattern are not modeled.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the complete pattern and make an appropriate sample in the intended material. Review seam construction, allowances, shrinkage and fitting rather than treating one margin as complete garment validation.
