Pre Registered Rule Threshold Decision

Apply one caller-supplied numerical comparison without establishing that a rule was preregistered or statistically appropriate.

Description

Apply a supplied comparison rule and threshold to an observed value.

Experimental-psychology records separate condition labels, declared masking, timing assumptions, response rules and reward realizations. A supplied random draw can be evaluated without generating randomness, and a threshold comparison does not verify preregistration or establish statistical significance. Experimental validity needs the complete design and source observations.

Apply a supplied comparison rule and threshold to an observed value.

When to use this tool

Use Pre Registered Rule Threshold Decision when checking the stated benign experiment record, timing, allocation or payoff convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedValue, suppliedThreshold, comparison. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read meetsSuppliedRule. Inspect meetsSuppliedRule before interpreting the associated values.

Accept comparison above, at-least, below or at-most. Compare observedValue with suppliedThreshold using >, >=, < or <= respectively.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The rule is supplied rather than verified as preregistered; no significance test, exclusion policy or research conclusion is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified protocols, calibrated timing, appropriate complete statistical methods and responsible participant/ethics review for actual experimental conclusions.
