Description
Calculate the probability of a correct uniform guess among supplied choices.
Experimental-psychology records separate condition labels, declared masking, timing assumptions, response rules and reward realizations. A supplied random draw can be evaluated without generating randomness, and a threshold comparison does not verify preregistration or establish statistical significance. Experimental validity needs the complete design and source observations.
Calculate the probability of a correct uniform guess among supplied choices.
When to use this tool
Use Forced Choice Guessing Rate Reference when checking the stated benign experiment record, timing, allocation or payoff convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter choiceCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read uniformGuessProbability. Use the output convention below.
Require whole choiceCount>=1. Return 1/choiceCount as uniformGuessProbability.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| choiceCount | Choice Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| uniformGuessProbability | Uniform Guess Probability | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Assumes equally likely independent action choices for this one response; actual guessing, response bias and task performance are not estimated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified protocols, calibrated timing, appropriate complete statistical methods and responsible participant/ethics review for actual experimental conclusions.
