Tree Tip Sampling Date Label

Attach an explicit date-only sampling date and source to a phylogenetic tip without dating a tree.

Description

Label a phylogenetic tree tip's sampling date and source.

Evolutionary summaries depend on sampled sequences/populations, reference states, ploidy, time units and stochastic assumptions. A mixture expectation differs from a drift simulation, and a callable-allele denominator differs from an individual count. Labels and local tree conditions do not reconstruct ancestry or establish a biological mechanism.

Label a phylogenetic tree tip's sampling date and source.

When to use this tool

Use Tree Tip Sampling Date Label when checking the stated evolutionary record, reference, expectation or scale convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter tipId, samplingDate, source. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read label. Use the output convention below.

Require nonempty tip/source labels and a real YYYY-MM-DD sampling date. Format tip; sampled=date [source].1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No sequence, specimen, tree tip, temporal calibration or source record is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified samples/references and appropriate complete phylogenetic, population-genetic or statistical models for actual biological inference and uncertainty.
