Description
Measure a signed allele-trajectory time offset from its supplied origin.
Evolutionary summaries depend on sampled sequences/populations, reference states, ploidy, time units and stochastic assumptions. A mixture expectation differs from a drift simulation, and a callable-allele denominator differs from an individual count. Labels and local tree conditions do not reconstruct ancestry or establish a biological mechanism.
Measure a signed allele-trajectory time offset from its supplied origin.
When to use this tool
Use Allele Trajectory Time Origin Offset when checking the stated evolutionary record, reference, expectation or scale convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter referenceOriginTime, trajectoryTime. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.
Return trajectoryTime-referenceOriginTime as a signed gap in one common time-coordinate basis.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| referenceOriginTime | Reference Origin Time | Required. Finite number. |
| trajectoryTime | Trajectory Time | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| signedGap | Signed first/second difference in the direction and units specified above. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No date, generation length, allele frequency or population process is inferred or simulated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified samples/references and appropriate complete phylogenetic, population-genetic or statistical models for actual biological inference and uncertainty.
