Claim Confidence Source Label

Label an explicitly reported confidence fraction and source without estimating truth or warranted belief.

Description

Attach a stated confidence-source label to a claim.

Evidence records distinguish claims, source origins, confidence labels, logical scope and access status. Repeated citations may share an origin rather than provide independent support; an unknown origin is not proof of independence. A recorded support or witness link does not establish entailment, truth or a valid inference.

Attach a stated confidence-source label to a claim.

When to use this tool

Use Claim Confidence Source Label when checking the stated evidence, source, confidence or logical-label convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter claimId, reportedConfidence, confidenceSource. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read label. Use the output convention below.

Require nonempty claim/source labels and reportedConfidence in [0,1]. Format claim; reported confidence=value [source].1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The number is a reported credence, not a calibrated probability, verified evidence strength or a truth assessment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original evidence and use appropriate complete logical/statistical analysis, preserving uncertainty, provenance and applicable access/reuse permissions.
