Restoration Plot Cover Class Tool

Classify a measured cover percentage using explicit increasing lower bounds with inclusive lower edges; no standard ecological cover scheme is invented.

Description

Choose the last bound at or below cover percent.

Environmental records use measurement bases, sample conventions, dates, and source labels. A calculation applies the supplied convention; it does not verify sampling quality, detect contamination, or establish compliance.

Choose the last bound at or below cover percent.

When to use this tool

Use Restoration Plot Cover Class when you need one environmental data component with its basis and limitations stated.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter coverPercent, lowerBounds, classLabels. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read classLabel. Use the output convention below.

Require coverPercent in [0, 100], aligned nonempty bounds/labels, first bound zero, and increasing bounds within 100. Choose the last bound at or below cover percent.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Exact boundaries enter the higher class; labels, survey accuracy, ecological meaning, and restoration success are not inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the full sampling method, analytical uncertainty, and applicable assessment requirements separately.
