Description
Return lowerBound zero, upperBound at the limit, upperInclusive false, and a [0, limit) label.
A reported threshold is not an exact measured value. Censored observations have one available bound, while a rounded exact value can be represented by a finite interval.
Return lowerBound zero, upperBound at the limit, upperInclusive false, and a [0, limit) label.
When to use this tool
Use Nondetect Observation Interval Label when you need to preserve bound availability rather than treating every number as exact.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter detectionLimit, unit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read lowerBound, upperBound, upperInclusive, label. Inspect upperInclusive before interpreting the associated values.
Require positive detectionLimit and nonempty unit. Return lowerBound zero, upperBound at the limit, upperInclusive false, and a [0, limit) label.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| detectionLimit | Positive upper limit under this tool’s imposed nonnegative nondetect interval convention. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| unit | Unit | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| lowerBound | Zero under this imposed convention, not a measured concentration. | Required. Finite number. |
| upperBound | Upper Bound | Required. Finite number. |
| upperInclusive | Always false for the implemented interval [0, detectionLimit). | Required. Boolean. |
| label | Formatted label for the supplied components under the convention above. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This applies a nonnegative nondetect reporting convention, not a measured zero, probability distribution, laboratory qualification rule, or universally valid censoring model.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Retain the original assay qualifier and use an appropriate censored-data method for statistical analysis.
