Radon Exposure Time Weighted One Room Term Tool

Calculate radon exposure time weighted one room term from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return integratedExposure = roomConcentration*roomHours*occupancyWeight+otherConcentration*otherHours and meanConcentration = integratedExposure/weightedHours.

Exposure arithmetic combines a concentration with time, intake or body mass on an explicit averaging basis. Integrated contact, average concentration, ingested mass and absorbed dose are different quantities and should not be substituted for each other.

Return integratedExposure = roomConcentration*roomHours*occupancyWeight+otherConcentration*otherHours and meanConcentration = integratedExposure/weightedHours.

When to use this tool

Use Radon Exposure Time Weighted One Room Term when checking a supplied exposure integration or averaging denominator.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter roomConcentration, roomHours, otherConcentration, otherHours, occupancyWeight. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read weightedHours, integratedExposure, meanConcentration. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative concentrations, hours and occupancyWeight, and positive weightedHours = roomHours*occupancyWeight+otherHours. Return integratedExposure = roomConcentration*roomHours*occupancyWeight+otherConcentration*otherHours and meanConcentration = integratedExposure/weightedHours. Use one concentration unit; occupancyWeight is a dimensionless multiplier and may exceed one.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The weight changes both the room's exposure contribution and its averaging-time contribution. This is a two-location weighted concentration model, not absorbed dose, a radon risk estimate or a mitigation recommendation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a suitable exposure assessment with frequency, routes, variability and toxicological context when the question concerns health consequences.
