Household Exposure Support Share Tool

Calculate household exposure support share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Sum all weights into totalExposureWeight and only records with both validity flags into supportedExposureWeight.

Environmental monitoring coverage depends on what counts in the denominator. Time, effort, area, sampled volume and exposure weights describe different support measures; excluding missing or ineligible portions changes the question answered by a fraction.

Sum all weights into totalExposureWeight and only records with both validity flags into supportedExposureWeight.

When to use this tool

Use Household Exposure Support Share when checking a monitoring or sampling share with an explicit inclusion and overlap convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter householdIds, exposureWeights, observationValid, sourceVerified. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalExposureWeight, supportedExposureWeight, supportedHouseholds, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require equally long householdIds, exposureWeights, observationValid and sourceVerified arrays and nonnegative weights. Sum all weights into totalExposureWeight and only records with both validity flags into supportedExposureWeight. Count distinct supported household IDs and return their weight share when totalExposureWeight > 0; otherwise return share = 0 and defined = false.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
householdIdsHousehold IdsRequired. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256.
exposureWeightsExposure WeightsRequired. Array of finite number; minimum 0; maximum items 256.
observationValidObservation ValidRequired. Array of boolean; maximum items 256.
sourceVerifiedSource VerifiedRequired. Array of boolean; maximum items 256.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
totalExposureWeightTotal Exposure WeightRequired. Finite number.
supportedExposureWeightSupported Exposure WeightRequired. Finite number.
supportedHouseholdsNumber of distinct household IDs with both support flags true; sums still count all records.Required. Safe integer.
shareDimensionless selected contribution divided by the stated total; not a percentage.Required. Finite number.
definedWhether the denominator is positive and the returned ratio is defined; inspect this before using a zero placeholder.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Distinct household counts deduplicate IDs, but the weight sums do not deduplicate repeated records. Flags are supplied assertions, not independently verified observations, and a weighted support share is not disease risk or population representativeness.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review source intervals and sampling design, and compute overlaps from actual records when an aggregate deduction cannot be justified.
