Exposure Averaging Window Share Tool

Audit supplied exposure observation coverage without filling missing measurements or calculating health risk.

Description

Return eligibleDuration = fullWindowDuration-excludedDuration and coverage = observedWindowDuration/eligibleDuration.

Environmental monitoring coverage depends on what counts in the denominator. Time, effort, area, sampled volume and exposure weights describe different support measures; excluding missing or ineligible portions changes the question answered by a fraction.

Return eligibleDuration = fullWindowDuration-excludedDuration and coverage = observedWindowDuration/eligibleDuration.

When to use this tool

Use Exposure Averaging Window Share when checking a monitoring or sampling share with an explicit inclusion and overlap convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedWindowDuration, fullWindowDuration, excludedDuration. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleDuration, coverage. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative excludedDuration, fullWindowDuration > excludedDuration and observedWindowDuration between zero and fullWindowDuration-excludedDuration. Return eligibleDuration = fullWindowDuration-excludedDuration and coverage = observedWindowDuration/eligibleDuration.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The supplied observed duration must already exclude the excluded portion. The tool does not detect overlapping intervals, impute missing concentrations or establish that an exposure average meets a regulatory completeness rule.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review source intervals and sampling design, and compute overlaps from actual records when an aggregate deduction cannot be justified.
