Description
Return activeMass = waterVolume*activeDose, stockMass = activeMass/stockPurity and stockVolume = stockMass/stockDensity.
Chemical stock and polymer calculations distinguish active substance from the total mass or volume of its carrier. Purity and solids fractions must use a stated mass basis, and numerical dose scaling does not choose an appropriate treatment dose.
Return activeMass = waterVolume*activeDose, stockMass = activeMass/stockPurity and stockVolume = stockMass/stockDensity.
When to use this tool
Use Water Treatment Chemical Stock Purity Term when converting a caller-supplied active dose into stock or solution quantities.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter waterVolume, activeDose, stockPurity, stockDensity. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read activeMass, stockMass, stockVolume. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative waterVolume and activeDose, stockPurity in (0,1] and positive stockDensity. Return activeMass = waterVolume*activeDose, stockMass = activeMass/stockPurity and stockVolume = stockMass/stockDensity. activeDose is active mass per water volume, purity is an active mass fraction, and density is stock mass per stock volume in compatible units.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| waterVolume | Water Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| activeDose | Active chemical mass per water volume in compatible units. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| stockPurity | Active mass fraction of stock in (0,1], not volume percent. | Required. Finite number; maximum 1; strictly above 0. |
| stockDensity | Stock mass per stock volume in compatible units. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| activeMass | Active Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| stockMass | Stock Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| stockVolume | Stock Volume | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This scales a caller-specified dose and does not recommend it. Chemical compatibility, hazards, mixing, reaction demand and treatment efficacy require an appropriate complete design; stockPurity is not a volume percentage.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use product-specific properties, compatibility information and qualified treatment design to select and validate a practical dose.
