Description
Measure the span between supplied remediation-well screen depths.
Environmental engineering quantities depend on compatible mass/volume units, reference levels, usable geometry and complete flow boundaries. Nominal bed volume differs from pore-water volume, and hydraulic surface loading differs from pore velocity. A supplied removal or recovery fraction does not establish actual treatment performance or safe operation.
Measure the span between supplied remediation-well screen depths.
When to use this tool
Use Remediation Well Screen Depth Span when checking the stated benign engineering mass, volume, reference or throughput term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter topDepth, bottomDepth. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read screenLength, midpointDepth. Use the output convention below.
Require topDepth>=0 and bottomDepth>=top. Return bottom-top screen length and top/2+bottom/2 midpoint depth.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| topDepth | Top Depth | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| bottomDepth | Bottom Depth | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| screenLength | Screen Length | Required. Finite number. |
| midpointDepth | Midpoint Depth | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Zero span is accepted; no well geometry, flow distribution, aquifer suitability or safe remediation operation is assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured operating conditions, verified equipment properties and a complete suitable process model with qualified engineering/environmental review for actual design and operation.
