Description
Return pumpedVolume = flow*duration, extractedMass = pumpedVolume*concentration and capturedMass = extractedMass*capturedFraction.
A pollutant load combines concentration with a compatible flow, volume or activity factor. A load rate has amount-per-time units, whereas an integrated load also includes duration; concentration differences alone do not describe removal when flows differ.
Return pumpedVolume = flow*duration, extractedMass = pumpedVolume*concentration and capturedMass = extractedMass*capturedFraction.
When to use this tool
Use Groundwater Pump Extracted Contaminant Mass when checking one supplied emission, transport or treatment mass-balance contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter flow, duration, concentration, capturedFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read pumpedVolume, extractedMass, capturedMass. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative flow, duration and concentration and capturedFraction in [0,1]. Return pumpedVolume = flow*duration, extractedMass = pumpedVolume*concentration and capturedMass = extractedMass*capturedFraction.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use flow and duration that produce the concentration's volume denominator. This assumes constant conditions and a supplied capture fraction; it does not estimate aquifer cleanup, plume capture, treatment efficacy or safe discharge.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Integrate changing measurements over time and reconcile storage and reactions when a constant-condition product is insufficient.
