Startup Customer Discovery Response Share Tool

Descriptive interview funnel shares; the respondents are not assumed representative of a market.

Description

Summarize a customer-discovery funnel with response and confirmation shares on their distinct denominators.

Customer-discovery and experiment summaries depend on who was contacted, what evidence counts and how unresolved outcomes enter the denominator. An observed fraction or uncertainty margin is descriptive evidence rather than proof of market demand or a decision rule.

Summarize a customer-discovery funnel with response and confirmation shares on their distinct denominators.

When to use this tool

Use Startup Customer Discovery Response Share when checking supplied response counts, evidence shares or decision margins.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter contacted, responded, problemConfirmed. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read responseFraction, confirmationAmongResponses, confirmationAmongContacts. Use the output convention below.

Require whole contacted >= responded >= 1 and whole problemConfirmed between zero and responded. Return responseFraction = responded/contacted, confirmationAmongResponses = problemConfirmed/responded and confirmationAmongContacts = problemConfirmed/contacted.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • These are fractions, not percentages or statistical validation of a market hypothesis. Zero responses are rejected; nonresponse and selection bias remain unmodeled.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate study design and statistical analysis when sampling bias, uncertainty or causal interpretation matters.
