Description
Summarize coded hypothesis-support counts under an explicit unresolved-evidence denominator policy.
Customer-discovery and experiment summaries depend on who was contacted, what evidence counts and how unresolved outcomes enter the denominator. An observed fraction or uncertainty margin is descriptive evidence rather than proof of market demand or a decision rule.
Summarize coded hypothesis-support counts under an explicit unresolved-evidence denominator policy.
When to use this tool
Use Hypothesis Evidence Count Share when checking supplied response counts, evidence shares or decision margins.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter supporting, contradicting, unresolved, countUnresolved. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominator, supportingShare, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Require nonnegative whole supporting, contradicting and unresolved. denominator = supporting+contradicting, adding unresolved only when countUnresolved is true. Return supportingShare = supporting/denominator when positive; otherwise return zero with defined = false.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| supporting | Supporting | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| contradicting | Contradicting | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| unresolved | Unresolved | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| countUnresolved | Count Unresolved | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| denominator | Denominator | Required. Safe integer. |
| supportingShare | Supporting Share | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the stated denominator has positive support; read this before interpreting a zero placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Excluding unresolved evidence changes the denominator. Counts do not weight evidence quality, independence or strength, and an undefined share is not a zero support estimate.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use an appropriate study design and statistical analysis when sampling bias, uncertainty or causal interpretation matters.
