Description
Value occupied incubator desk-months and their price difference from a supplied market rate.
A startup unit-cost or price comparison needs an explicit denominator and treatment of setup costs, scrap, occupancy and fees. A nominal discount, net unit cost and implied value answer different questions.
Value occupied incubator desk-months and their price difference from a supplied market rate.
When to use this tool
Use Incubator Desk Subsidy Month Term when checking a specified unit price, prototype cost or program-price comparison.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter desks, months, marketMonthlyRate, subsidizedMonthlyRate, occupancyFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read deskMonths, subsidyValue. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative whole desks, nonnegative months and monthly rates and occupancyFraction in [0,1]. deskMonths = desks*months*occupancyFraction; subsidyValue = deskMonths*(marketMonthlyRate-subsidizedMonthlyRate).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| desks | Desks | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| months | Months | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| marketMonthlyRate | Market Monthly Rate | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| subsidizedMonthlyRate | Subsidized Monthly Rate | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| occupancyFraction | Occupancy Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| deskMonths | Desk Months | Required. Finite number. |
| subsidyValue | Subsidy Value | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Rates are currency per occupied desk-month. A subsidized rate above the market rate produces negative subsidy value; occupancy and market comparability are supplied assumptions.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete cost and revenue model when fixed costs, variable yields, market comparability or timing change the interpretation.
