Heat Tariff Distribution Loss Share Tool

Calculate heat tariff distribution loss share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

producedHeat = deliveredHeat/(1-lossFraction); losses = producedHeat*lossFraction; cost = producedHeat*productionPrice.

Energy price comparisons require consistent delivered or input energy units, efficiency, calorific basis and reporting period. Dividing by efficiency increases the input needed for a delivered unit; nominal price differences alone need not represent a saving.

producedHeat = deliveredHeat/(1-lossFraction); losses = producedHeat*lossFraction; cost = producedHeat*productionPrice.

When to use this tool

Use Heat Tariff Distribution Loss Share when checking one supplied energy-price normalization or cost contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter deliveredHeat, lossFraction, productionPrice. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read producedHeat, losses, cost. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative deliveredHeat and lossFraction in [0,1). producedHeat = deliveredHeat/(1-lossFraction); losses = producedHeat*lossFraction; cost = producedHeat*productionPrice.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The loss fraction is relative to produced heat, not delivered heat. Use a common heat unit; network physics, fixed costs and actual tariff rights are omitted.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the full tariff, operating profile and cost boundary when assessing real bills, investments or load-shifting decisions.
