Description
deliveredPricePerHeat = pricePerFuelUnit/(heatPerFuelUnit*deliveredEfficiency); referenceGap subtracts suppliedReferencePricePerHeat.
Energy price comparisons require consistent delivered or input energy units, efficiency, calorific basis and reporting period. Dividing by efficiency increases the input needed for a delivered unit; nominal price differences alone need not represent a saving.
deliveredPricePerHeat = pricePerFuelUnit/(heatPerFuelUnit*deliveredEfficiency); referenceGap subtracts suppliedReferencePricePerHeat.
When to use this tool
Use Fuel Heat Price Reference Gap when checking one supplied energy-price normalization or cost contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter pricePerFuelUnit, heatPerFuelUnit, deliveredEfficiency, suppliedReferencePricePerHeat. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read deliveredPricePerHeat, referenceGap. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative pricePerFuelUnit and reference price, positive heatPerFuelUnit and deliveredEfficiency in (0,1]. deliveredPricePerHeat = pricePerFuelUnit/(heatPerFuelUnit*deliveredEfficiency); referenceGap subtracts suppliedReferencePricePerHeat.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use matching delivered-heat units. Fuel properties and efficiency are assumptions; this term omits fixed costs and does not select the correct heating-value basis.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the full tariff, operating profile and cost boundary when assessing real bills, investments or load-shifting decisions.
