Dispatch Cost Adder Component Tool

Apply supplied energy adder and optional loss gross-up without simulating dispatch or selecting market rules.

Loading tool…

Description

chargedEnergy = energy/(1-lossFraction) when grossUpLosses is true, otherwise energy; costAdder = chargedEnergy*suppliedAdderPerEnergy.

Energy price comparisons require consistent delivered or input energy units, efficiency, calorific basis and reporting period. Dividing by efficiency increases the input needed for a delivered unit; nominal price differences alone need not represent a saving.

chargedEnergy = energy/(1-lossFraction) when grossUpLosses is true, otherwise energy; costAdder = chargedEnergy*suppliedAdderPerEnergy.

When to use this tool

Use Dispatch Cost Adder Component when checking one supplied energy-price normalization or cost contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter energy, suppliedAdderPerEnergy, suppliedLossFraction, grossUpLosses. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read costAdder, chargedEnergy. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative energy and suppliedLossFraction in [0,1). chargedEnergy = energy/(1-lossFraction) when grossUpLosses is true, otherwise energy; costAdder = chargedEnergy*suppliedAdderPerEnergy.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Losses are a fraction of gross energy. The adder may be signed and is supplied rather than derived from network losses, dispatch costs or a tariff.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the full tariff, operating profile and cost boundary when assessing real bills, investments or load-shifting decisions.
