Capacity Market Derating Supplied Factor Tool

Calculate capacity market derating supplied factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

qualifiedMw = nameplateMw*deratingFraction; payment = qualifiedMw*pricePerMw.

Energy contracts and credit accounts distinguish quantities accrued, used, available, curtailed, expired or qualified. A numeric balance applies an explicit convention; it does not establish which contractual or market rules actually apply.

qualifiedMw = nameplateMw*deratingFraction; payment = qualifiedMw*pricePerMw.

When to use this tool

Use Capacity Market Derating Supplied Factor when reconciling a specified energy credit, allocation or settlement term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter nameplateMw, deratingFraction, pricePerMw. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read qualifiedMw, payment. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative nameplateMw and deratingFraction in [0,1]. qualifiedMw = nameplateMw*deratingFraction; payment = qualifiedMw*pricePerMw.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor is the retained qualifying fraction, not the fraction lost. Qualification, capacity-credit methodology and payment rights are supplied assumptions.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review actual program rules, contract terms and dated records before treating a calculated balance or payment as due.
