Description
Apply a supplied signed offset to a recorded canal reference length.
Endodontic records use explicit tooth/canal identifiers, length references and device-mark conventions. A numeric offset changes a recorded length without determining anatomical endpoints. A source-qualified canal label preserves supplied wording rather than confirming identification or a clinically appropriate working length.
Apply a supplied signed offset to a recorded canal reference length.
When to use this tool
Use Root Canal Working Length Offset when you already have recordedReferenceLength, suppliedOffset and need to apply a supplied signed offset to a recorded canal reference length.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter recordedReferenceLength, suppliedOffset. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read offsetLength. Use the output convention below.
Require recordedReferenceLength>=0 and reference+offset>=0; return their sum.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| recordedReferenceLength | Recorded Reference Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| suppliedOffset | Supplied Offset | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| offsetLength | Offset Length | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Units must match. No canal is measured, working length selected, instrument position assessed or appropriate treatment determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original clinical record, verified measurement references and complete assessment when a treatment question arises. Keep supplied offset arithmetic and label formatting separate from actual anatomy, instrument position, device interpretation and clinical decisions.
