Description
Find the first exact matching code; return known and its corresponding ordinal, or zero when absent.
Dental bench and specimen records use supplied codes, sequence identifiers and orientation labels. Literal label agreement and numeric order are separate from verification of an instrument standard, anatomical side or clinical record.
Find the first exact matching code; return known and its corresponding ordinal, or zero when absent.
When to use this tool
Use Instrument Size Code Source Order when checking a supplied specimen or instrument-record convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter code, sourceCodes, sourceOrder. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read known, ordinal, duplicateSourceCodes. Inspect known, duplicateSourceCodes before interpreting the associated values.
Require equally long sourceCodes and sourceOrder. Find the first exact matching code; return known and its corresponding ordinal, or zero when absent. duplicateSourceCodes flags any repeated source code.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| code | Code | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| sourceCodes | Source Codes | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| sourceOrder | Source Order | Required. Array of safe integer; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| known | Known | Required. Boolean. |
| ordinal | First matching source-order value or zero placeholder; inspect known. | Required. Safe integer. |
| duplicateSourceCodes | Duplicate Source Codes | Required. Boolean. |

"output": {

} Limitations and assumptions
- The ordinal is supplied metadata, not an independently parsed instrument size. Duplicates use the first match; zero must be read with known.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the authoritative source and actual specimen or instrument documentation before interpreting labels as standards or clinical findings.
