Thyroid Nodule Orthogonal Diameter Pair Tool

Order two supplied positive orthogonal thyroid-nodule diameters and report their ratio without estimating volume or malignancy.

Description

Order two supplied positive diameters and calculate their ratio.

Endocrine records distinguish specimen matrices, assay methods, unit bases, reference editions and sampling clocks. A printed significant-digit count differs from numerical rounding, while a fasting label is a reported state rather than verified preparation. Image axes and result labels organize supplied observations without deriving hormone physiology or clinical interpretation.

Order two supplied positive diameters and calculate their ratio.

When to use this tool

Use Thyroid Nodule Orthogonal Diameter Pair when you already have firstDiameter, secondDiameter and need to order two supplied positive diameters and calculate their ratio.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstDiameter, secondDiameter. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read largerDiameter, smallerDiameter, diameterRatio. Use the output convention below.

Require both diameters positive/finite; return max, min and max/min.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
firstDiameterFirst DiameterRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
secondDiameterSecond DiameterRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
largerDiameterLarger DiameterRequired. Finite number.
smallerDiameterSmaller DiameterRequired. Finite number.
diameterRatioLarger/smaller, at least one; does not verify that the measurements are orthogonal.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The ratio is at least one and assumes matching units. No nodule is identified, orthogonal measurement verified, shape classified or clinical threshold applied.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile the laboratory report, specimen and method information, reference source and collection timeline before comparing results. Use the complete appropriate assessment for a clinical question; one clock correction, diameter ratio or recorded status does not provide it.
