Specimen Storage Time Gap Tool

Audit explicit research storage times against a caller-supplied limit without inventing stability guidance.

Loading tool…

Description

elapsed = processedAt-storedAt; slack = suppliedLimit-elapsed.

Specimen timing must use a common clock and an explicit elapsed-time unit. A difference from a supplied storage limit is a record comparison rather than evidence of assay stability or an appropriate handling protocol.

elapsed = processedAt-storedAt; slack = suppliedLimit-elapsed.

When to use this tool

Use Specimen Storage Time Gap when checking a supplied specimen interval and limit slack.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter storedAt, processedAt, suppliedLimit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read elapsed, slack. Use the output convention below.

Require processedAt >= storedAt and nonnegative suppliedLimit. elapsed = processedAt-storedAt; slack = suppliedLimit-elapsed. Times and the limit must use one unit and clock basis.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative slack shows only that the supplied interval is exceeded. No specimen stability, assay validity or appropriate storage condition is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the assay method and specimen-handling requirements to establish valid storage and processing conditions.
