Description
Annotate supplied hormone-result text with a significant-digit count.
Endocrine records distinguish specimen matrices, assay methods, unit bases, reference editions and sampling clocks. A printed significant-digit count differs from numerical rounding, while a fasting label is a reported state rather than verified preparation. Image axes and result labels organize supplied observations without deriving hormone physiology or clinical interpretation.
Annotate supplied hormone-result text with a significant-digit count.
When to use this tool
Use Hormone Result Significant Digit Label when you already have resultText, suppliedSignificantDigits and need to annotate supplied hormone-result text with a significant-digit count.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter resultText, suppliedSignificantDigits. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read label. Use the output convention below.
Require resultText nonempty and suppliedSignificantDigits a positive safe integer; append the count label.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| resultText | Unparsed nonempty result spelling; not rounded or checked against the digit annotation. | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| suppliedSignificantDigits | Supplied Significant Digits | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| label | Label | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"resultText": "12.30",
"suppliedSignificantDigits": 4
},
"output": {
"label": "12.30 [4 significant digits]"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Result text is not parsed, counted or rounded. The annotation does not verify measurement precision, significance or valid reporting.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile the laboratory report, specimen and method information, reference source and collection timeline before comparing results. Use the complete appropriate assessment for a clinical question; one clock correction, diameter ratio or recorded status does not provide it.
