Description
Label a specimen's recorded fasting status and reported hours.
Endocrine records distinguish specimen matrices, assay methods, unit bases, reference editions and sampling clocks. A printed significant-digit count differs from numerical rounding, while a fasting label is a reported state rather than verified preparation. Image axes and result labels organize supplied observations without deriving hormone physiology or clinical interpretation.
Label a specimen's recorded fasting status and reported hours.
When to use this tool
Use Endocrine Specimen Fasting Status Label when you already have specimenCode, fastingStatus, reportedHours and need to label a specimen's recorded fasting status and reported hours.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter specimenCode, fastingStatus, reportedHours. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read label. Use the output convention below.
Require specimenCode nonempty, reportedHours>=0 and fastingStatus reported-fasting, reported-nonfasting or unknown; preserve both in the label.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| specimenCode | Specimen Code | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| fastingStatus | Fasting Status | Required. Text; one of "reported-fasting", "reported-nonfasting", "unknown"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| reportedHours | Nonnegative reported time, not cross-validated against the supplied fasting-status code. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| label | Label | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

"fastingStatus": "reported-fasting",
"reportedHours": 8
},
"output": {
"label": "S17 [reported-fasting; reported 8 h]"

} Limitations and assumptions
- Reported hours and status are not cross-validated. No fasting adherence, suitable preparation or laboratory result is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile the laboratory report, specimen and method information, reference source and collection timeline before comparing results. Use the complete appropriate assessment for a clinical question; one clock correction, diameter ratio or recorded status does not provide it.
