Ascii Control Picture Code Point Tool

Compute ascii control picture code point from explicit bounded inputs.

Description

Map 0-32 to Unicode points U+2400+octet and 127 to U+2421; return point and its symbol.

Control characters can be displayed using visible Unicode pictures or caret notation. These representations show a control value to a reader; they are not the original bytes or instructions to execute terminal behavior.

Map 0-32 to Unicode points U+2400+octet and 127 to U+2421; return point and its symbol.

When to use this tool

Use Ascii Control Picture Code Point when producing a visible representation of one supported ASCII control value.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter octet. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read point, symbol. Use the output convention below.

Require whole octet in [0,32] or exactly 127. Map 0-32 to Unicode points U+2400+octet and 127 to U+2421; return point and its symbol.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
octetOctetRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0; maximum 127.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
pointPointRequired. Safe integer.
symbolSymbolRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

Limitations and assumptions

  • ASCII space maps to its control-picture symbol too. The output is a visible representation, not the original control byte, terminal behavior or a sanitization guarantee.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual byte encoding or an appropriate escaping policy when transmitting data rather than displaying a control label.
