Description
Apply an imaginary-axis representation sign to a supplied phase.
Electrochemical quantities require explicit electrode references, current sign, area definition and time basis. Geometric area differs from active-area conventions, charge differs from charge equivalents, and a logarithmic current coordinate needs a same-unit reference magnitude. Local sign changes and coordinate terms do not fit kinetics or establish a valid experiment.
Apply an imaginary-axis representation sign to a supplied phase.
When to use this tool
Use Impedance Phase Representation Sign when you already have phaseDegrees, reverseImaginaryAxis and need to apply an imaginary-axis representation sign to a supplied phase.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter phaseDegrees, reverseImaginaryAxis. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read representedPhaseDegrees. Use the output convention below.
Return -phaseDegrees if reverseImaginaryAxis=true, otherwise phaseDegrees.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| phaseDegrees | Phase Degrees | Required. Finite number. |
| reverseImaginaryAxis | Reverse Imaginary Axis | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| representedPhaseDegrees | Optional sign reversal only; no wrapping or phase inference. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No phase is calculated, wrapped or unwrapped; sign selection alone does not establish an impedance convention or equivalent circuit.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect calibrated instrument records, reference-electrode details, area definitions and the complete experiment before interpreting results. Use the full electrochemical model and verified operating conditions when a local current, charge, sweep or impedance-representation term cannot answer the scientific question.
