Description
gap = noLoad-fullLoad; regulation = gap/fullLoad, using the same voltage unit.
Magnetic coupling uses explicit winding, current and voltage references. Turns-square reflection and mutual-energy signs are ideal model conventions; they do not establish actual coupling, saturation or a safe winding connection.
gap = noLoad-fullLoad; regulation = gap/fullLoad, using the same voltage unit.
When to use this tool
Use Transformer Voltage Regulation Signed Gap when checking one supplied turns-ratio, dot-reference or mutual-coupling term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter noLoad, fullLoad. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read gap, regulation. Use the output convention below.
Require positive fullLoad. gap = noLoad-fullLoad; regulation = gap/fullLoad, using the same voltage unit.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| noLoad | No Load | Required. Finite number. |
| fullLoad | Full Load | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| gap | Signed difference from the stated reference, using compatible units. | Required. Finite number. |
| regulation | Regulation | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The result is a fraction rather than percent and may be negative. Supplied terminal voltages do not establish a transformer's complete regulation characteristic or rating.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
