Description
kilowattHours = pulses/pulsesPerKwh.
An energy meter’s pulse constant relates a counted number of pulses to an energy unit. The conversion assumes the count, direction and constant are already correct; it does not measure those properties independently.
kilowattHours = pulses/pulsesPerKwh.
When to use this tool
Use Electrical Energy Meter Pulse Factor when converting a supplied meter pulse count to energy.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter pulses, pulsesPerKwh. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read kilowattHours. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative whole pulses and positive pulsesPerKwh. kilowattHours = pulses/pulsesPerKwh.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| pulses | Pulses | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| pulsesPerKwh | Pulses Per Kwh | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| kilowattHours | Kilowatt Hours | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This converts a supplied pulse count using its meter constant. Missing pulses, direction, calibration, billing accuracy and actual meter suitability are not assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use meter calibration and complete pulse records for actual metering and billing assessment.
