Description
supportedCount counts both true; unsupportedCount counts included true and supported false.
Ecological sampling summaries distinguish effort, weighted support, taxon counts and relative composition. A denominator-specific fraction or single-species contribution need not describe abundance, completeness or a whole-community index.
supportedCount counts both true; unsupportedCount counts included true and supported false.
When to use this tool
Use Community Total Support Count when checking a supplied ecological effort, support or count convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter supported, included. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read supportedCount, unsupportedCount. Use the output convention below.
Require equally long supported and included flag arrays. supportedCount counts both true; unsupportedCount counts included true and supported false.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| supported | Supported | Required. Array of boolean; maximum items 256. |
| included | Included | Required. Array of boolean; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| supportedCount | Supported Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| unsupportedCount | Unsupported Count | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Excluded records do not contribute and empty input returns zeros. Flags are assertions, not verification of taxonomic records, evidence quality or community completeness.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use an appropriate sampling, detection and community-analysis method for inference beyond these local summaries.
