Protein Factor Source Version Tool

Apply an explicit nitrogen-to-protein factor with retained source/version; no food-specific factor is chosen.

Description

Return factor-derived protein and source-version agreement.

A food nutrient amount depends on mass, composition, retention and the chosen reference or exchange convention. Nitrogen-derived protein and a single amino-acid ratio are analytical terms rather than complete measures of dietary adequacy.

Return factor-derived protein and source-version agreement.

When to use this tool

Use Protein Factor Source Version when checking a supplied nutrient amount, protein factor or reporting normalization.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measuredNitrogen, suppliedFactor, source, version, expectedVersion. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read calculatedProtein, versionMatches, provenance. Inspect versionMatches before interpreting the associated values.

Return factor-derived protein and source-version agreement. Require nonnegative measuredNitrogen, positive suppliedFactor and nonempty source; calculate their product, compare version literally and record source/version provenance.1

Nitrogen-based protein estimates depend on analytical assumptions and a suitable conversion factor; food composition and nonprotein nitrogen can matter.2

Limitations and assumptions

  • Protein is returned even when versions differ; provenance labels are not independent verification.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use appropriate food-composition and analytical sources, and professional dietary guidance for individual requirements or treatment plans.
