Longitudinal Study Age Wave Offset Tool

Calculate longitudinal study age wave offset from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return age at a supplied longitudinal wave and its target offset.

Chronological, corrected and age-equivalent values use different anchors and assumptions. Arithmetic can compare supplied age coordinates, but a clinical correction or interpretation of developmental delay is not determined by subtraction alone.

Return age at a supplied longitudinal wave and its target offset.

When to use this tool

Use Longitudinal Study Age Wave Offset when checking a supplied research age anchor or offset.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter baselineAgeMonths, elapsedMonths, targetWaveAgeMonths. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read observedAgeMonths, targetOffsetMonths. Use the output convention below.

Return age at a supplied longitudinal wave and its target offset. Require nonnegative baselineAgeMonths, elapsedMonths and targetWaveAgeMonths; observed age is baseline+elapsed and offset subtracts target.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Months are numeric study coordinates, not calendar-derived intervals or developmental norms.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate professional guidance and validated assessment before interpreting corrected or age-equivalent values for an individual.
