Description
Classify position within a supplied closed-or-open domain.
Developmental stages and lineages can be represented by labels, ordered events and observation intervals. Index and time differences preserve a declared representation but do not discover lineage, assign stage or establish biological equivalence.
Classify position within a supplied closed-or-open domain.
When to use this tool
Use Morphogen Domain Edge Token when checking an explicit stage, lineage or observation-coordinate convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter position, lower, upper, equalityPolicy. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read membership. Use the output convention below.
Classify position within a supplied closed-or-open domain. Require upper >= lower and equalityPolicy inside or outside; strictly interior positions are inside, endpoint ties use that policy.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| position | Position | Required. Finite number. |
| lower | Lower | Required. Finite number. |
| upper | Upper | Required. Finite number. |
| equalityPolicy | Equality Policy | Required. Text; one of "inside", "outside"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| membership | Membership | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- A degenerate interval contains its sole point only under inside; no expression domain is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original biological evidence and its staging or lineage model before drawing mechanistic conclusions.
