Cell Division Timing Sibling Gap Tool

Calculate cell division timing sibling gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Compare two supplied sibling cell-cycle durations.

Developmental stages and lineages can be represented by labels, ordered events and observation intervals. Index and time differences preserve a declared representation but do not discover lineage, assign stage or establish biological equivalence.

Compare two supplied sibling cell-cycle durations.

When to use this tool

Use Cell Division Timing Sibling Gap when checking an explicit stage, lineage or observation-coordinate convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstBirth, firstDivision, secondBirth, secondDivision. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read firstCycle, secondCycle, cycleGap. Use the output convention below.

Compare two supplied sibling cell-cycle durations. Require each division >= its birth; return the two elapsed cycles and cycleGap = second-first.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Times must share units; sibling identity, clock accuracy and biological significance are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original biological evidence and its staging or lineage model before drawing mechanistic conclusions.
