Description
Compare measured dental-photo scale with a supplied calibration.
Oral-health records may contain surface identifiers, annotation support, inventory or image calibration. Local count and balance rules do not verify observations, define an appropriate hygiene practice or establish a dental diagnosis.
Compare measured dental-photo scale with a supplied calibration.
When to use this tool
Use Dental Photo Scale Reference Gap when checking the stated oral-health record or measurement convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredReferencePixels, referenceLength, suppliedPixelsPerUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read estimatedPixelsPerUnit, calibrationGap, relativeGap. Use the output convention below.
Compare measured dental-photo scale with a supplied calibration. Require positive reference pixels, physical reference length and suppliedPixelsPerUnit; estimate pixels/length and return absolute and relative calibration gaps.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| measuredReferencePixels | Measured Reference Pixels | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| referenceLength | Reference Length | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| suppliedPixelsPerUnit | Supplied Pixels Per Unit | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| estimatedPixelsPerUnit | Estimated Pixels Per Unit | Required. Finite number. |
| calibrationGap | Calibration Gap | Required. Finite number. |
| relativeGap | estimatedPixelsPerUnit/suppliedPixelsPerUnit-1, dimensionless. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The calibration is not independently validated, and no clinical image or anatomical length is interpreted.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
