Skin Image Ruler Plane Offset Tool

Image ruler arithmetic with a separately established plane correction; no lesion measurement reliability is inferred.

Description

Apply a supplied ruler-plane correction to image length.

Skin-image research can record scale, annotation geometry, visibility and timing. Pixel counts, mask components and supplied metadata are technical summaries rather than disease findings or proof an image is suitable for diagnosis.

Apply a supplied ruler-plane correction to image length.

When to use this tool

Use Skin Image Ruler Plane Offset when checking a supplied dermatology research image or annotation record.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measuredPixels, pixelsPerLength, suppliedPlaneScale. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read uncorrectedLength, correctedLength. Use the output convention below.

Apply a supplied ruler-plane correction to image length. Require nonnegative measuredPixels and positive pixelsPerLength/suppliedPlaneScale; uncorrectedLength = pixels/calibration and correctedLength multiplies by plane scale.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
measuredPixelsMeasured PixelsRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
pixelsPerLengthPixels Per LengthRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
suppliedPlaneScaleSupplied Plane ScaleRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
uncorrectedLengthUncorrected LengthRequired. Finite number.
correctedLengthCorrected LengthRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The scale correction is supplied, not inferred from imaging geometry; clinical interpretation remains separate.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated imaging and professional clinical assessment for any health interpretation; validate annotation and measurement methods separately.
