Description
Return one age cohort's consumption-minus-labor-income deficit.
Demographic economic terms combine population, monetary flows, taxes and discount conventions. A local cohort contribution or supplied income comparison is not a complete fiscal projection, benefit entitlement or individual financial forecast.
Return one age cohort's consumption-minus-labor-income deficit.
When to use this tool
Use Lifecycle Deficit One Age Term when checking one declared cohort financial or fiscal contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter consumptionPerPerson, laborIncomePerPerson, population. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read perPersonDeficit, totalDeficit. Use the output convention below.
Return one age cohort's consumption-minus-labor-income deficit. Require nonnegative per-person consumption/income and nonnegative whole population; return perPersonDeficit and population-scaled totalDeficit.1

| population | Population | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- A negative deficit is a surplus under this convention; funding sources and full transfers are omitted.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
