Observation Context Validity Share Tool

Calculate observation context validity share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return context-valid share among included observations.

Source support, credit and authorization are different concepts. Supplied flags and vocabularies can support record bookkeeping but cannot independently establish consent, cultural authority, equitable credit or legal reuse rights.

Return context-valid share among included observations.

When to use this tool

Use Observation Context Validity Share when checking one explicitly supplied support, permission or credit convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter included, contextValid. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read includedCount, validCount, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Return context-valid share among included observations. Require aligned flags; count included and included-plus-valid positions, dividing for positive inclusion, otherwise zero with defined = false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Flags are supplied and do not independently validate ethnographic context or participant interpretation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the actual provenance, permissions and relevant community expectations before reusing or interpreting material.
